This past weekend, Dixie and Sasha, along with Kiwi, Kelly and Esther represented the refuge at the Country Club Mall’s annual “animal” day.

Dixie and Sasha got right into the spirit of the day with some beautiful face-paints. Kiwi’s not too sure:

I wonder if Kelly and Esther would have wanted one too?

Great job, Sasha and Dixie! Thanks for representing our beloved friends so beautifully!
I love these pictures and the work you do for all the rehomed birds.. i have five ..two zons and two mccaws and one quaker.. they are wonderful and i love them .. all are rehomed and needed loving homes .. people thought Harley would never be able to be handled but he is my baby and i hold him and kiss his head and he acts like it is the best since bird seed.. Shamrock my flame maccaw is very funny she acts like she is sooooo mean till you let her out and then she is all loving and sweet.. she and Harley came together when their “daddy” had to go to a nursing home.. Baby is a yellow nape and is tame she sings and talks and loves head rubs.. Trader Vic had a crop burn when he was on hand feeding and is not trusting of people but he will perch for me and talks his head off.. they have all learned to hollar “momma, come here quick” when they are in need or just want some loving …
