Gift Shop Visit

As well as unique commercially made items, our gift shop offers many hand-made creations by one of our staff members. When Leah isn’t welcoming guests, she’s often harvesting feathers in the various cages and crafting them into wonderful “objets d’art”. Of course the proceeds from the gift shop go towards supporting our birds.

  2. We are working on an online gift shop, but we don’t have a firm date yet when this will be available. We have so many things that need to be done and just limited resources. Please keep checking back!

    Thanks so much for asking!

  3. Hi there, beautiful gift shop you have! I love the parrot feather flowers, those are brilliant! I am almost 21 years old, and I have nine parrots, seven of which I took in from various people who could no longer care for them. I recently found this site, and I am AMAZED (!!!) That so many parrots have found a permanent home at your rescue, and that there are so many dedicated people willing to care for them! Nine is a lot of work (for me) and I just can’t imagine the work involved with 700 or more parrots. You are all ANGELS, and I nearly cry when I watch the videos, because it truly is a sad, widespread problem (parrots in captivity, not being properly cared for). I hope this rescue can flourish for many years to come.. I am seriously considering moving to Vancouver Island (from the Kootenays) just to become involved with the rescue. lol or maybe I will start my own, closer to home.. Either way, I am thrilled that other people have the same passion for these magnifican beauties as I do.. Taking care of parrots truly is a lifelong career, but so worth it!

  4. I forgot to say something, oops. haha I meant to post here because I make feather earrings from my birdies naturally molted feathers.. and people love them! I also think making hair pins is a creative way to use the feathers. The earrings are simple to make, with some earring hooks, fishing line, and a few beads (and a glue gun – away from the birds!). I’m sure you already have them in your shop, but if not, I think they are a great idea for using the feathers! :)

  5. Astrid,
Thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I hope you can get out for a visit before long. All the best to you in your own parrot support activities.
